HARLIN MUSEUM
A cultural center telling the story of the Ozarks through art and history.

Vanishing Ozarks-Wooden Barns and Mills

The Harlin Museum’s mission is to serve as a cultural center telling the story of the Ozarks through art and history. This show is part of a series entitled “Vanishing Ozarks,” highlighting some of the features of the Ozarks cultural history that are in danger of disappearing. This year’s focus was on wooden barns and mills, two institutions which have largely been replaced, but examples of which can still be found along the county roads of the Ozarks. Entries feature a particular example of a barn or mill found within the Ozarks area. Many of the artists included historical material about their subject, adding a story telling element to the show.
